The Guardian Launches Updated iPhone App With In App Subscriptions

Now that In App Subscriptions have been added to iTunes today, the UK's Guardian newspaper has wasted no time in updating its iPhone/iPod touch app. A year on from the original app’s release, version 2.0.1 is one of the very first newspaper apps to take advantage of Apple’s In App Subscriptions. The mini app, offering a selection of the paper’s top stories, is free to download, with access to the full app available as an In App Purchase for the price of £2.99 (or local currency equivalent) for six months or £3.99 for 12 months.

The full app has undergone a major features upgrade, including live football (soccer) scores, full access to The Guardian’s video reports via the new multimedia carousel, award-winning audio and podcasts streamed or saved in Favourites, full-screen photo galleries with high-res Retina display images, an optimised live blogging feature with the latest updates and commentary, and much more besides. The app is available worldwide http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/the-guardian/id409128287?mt=8&affId=1572101
Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Requires iOS 3.0 or later.
